| Transpersonal Psychotherapy offers a spiritual perspective
on psychological growth. It embraces the concept of a central core within
each individual that is essentially spiritual and is sometimes thought
of as the Self or soul. This perspective recognises that in our outer
journey through life, (sometimes known as the ego or personality journey,)
we may become far removed from our innermost Self. This in turn
can lead to psychological/emotional pain and suffering, illness, despair,
a feeling of being unfulfilled or that there is something missing in
our life. Transpersonal Psychotherapy seeks to reunite each individual
with his/her truest Self, whilst honouring the wounding and defences
of the ego or personality.
Transpersonal Psychotherapy offers the opportunity of being seen and heard in all the various aspects of ourselves and the possibility of coming into a different kind of relationship with your own unique inner nature; a relationship which may enable you to become more accepting and gentle with yourself, or one where you can allow yourself to live more fully from your innermost Self. On a practical level, this means that as well as listening to the difficulties you may be experiencing in the outer world, I will be listening to what may be trying to emerge in you on a deeper more spiritual or soul level. Truth is within ourselves; It takes no rise from outward things, Whatever you may believe. There is an inmost centre in us all, Where truth abides in fullness. Robert Browning |
